QUESTIONS REMAIN ABOUT PETRAEUS AFFAIR: Retired four-star general David Petraeus abruptly quit as CIA chief on Friday. In his letter of resignation, he cited an extramarital affair as the reason. Now, members of the House and Senate intelligence committees want to know why they learned of the FBI investigation into Petraeus only hours before the rest of the world got the news. On CNN's State of the Union on Sunday, Representative Peter King, the senior Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, said he wanted to know why members of Congress with oversight over intelligence and homeland security were not
briefed earlier by the FBI. Senator Dianne Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, expressed similar concerns on Fox News Sunday.

It appears that the FBI discovered the affair while investigating a complaint from
a woman who was receiving harassing emails that mentioned Petraeus. The emails
allegedly were from Paula Broadwell, the author of a biography of Petraeus. The recipient has been identified as Jill Kelley, of Tampa, who reportedly is a friend of the Petraeus family. Further investigation of those emails led back to more emails, including evidence of an affair between the biographer and Petraeus.

An unnamed U.S. official said Petraeus was never a target of the investigation, and that Petraeus used a private email address for the correspondence. The official also said that U.S. intelligence was never compromised.

Some Republicans are suspicious about the timing of the resignation. Petraeus was
scheduled to testify before Congress about the deadly attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The Senate Intelligence Committee is holding the hearings in the midst of a debate over whether U.S. intelligence and security operations should have been able to thwart the attack.

Senator Feinstein said Petraeus may still be called to testify.

The abrupt fall of David Petraeus came as a thunderbolt, and not all of his admirers have deserted him. Georgia's Senator Saxby Chambliss said on ABC's This Week: "David Petraeus
is a great leader, a great patriot, and he is a guy who has probably contributed more to the safety of the United States of America over the last decade than any one single individual."THIS JUST IN: OBAMA WINS FLORIDA: Florida has finally finished counting the votes cast in last Tuesday's elections. The state finalized the count just in time for Saturday's noon filing deadline. Election Day was a nightmare for Floridians, with many waiting four hours or longer to cast their ballots. It was just as bad in the previous days, when the state's polls were
open for early voting. Governor Rick Scott has ordered a review of the state's election Process.

With the Florida vote in, we now know that the final electoral vote count is 332 for President Barack Obama and 206 for Republican candidate Mitt Romney. The president's margin of
victory was razor-thin. The final tally shows him winning 50.01 percent of the Florida vote, compared to 49.13 percent for Romney.

In most years, Florida's 29 electoral votes are decisive in getting one candidate over the 270 threshold. This year, Ohio got in earlier by nearly four days.

'EAST COAST RAPIST' TO PLEAD GUILTY: The man known as the "East Coast
rapist" is expected to enter guilty pleas in courts in two Northern Virginia counties this week. Aaron Thomas is expected to acknowledge his guilt in two cases, possibly sparing the victims from testifying about two of at least a dozen attacks in Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island dating back to the mid-1990s. Each of the two Virginia cases carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. Thomas was on a short list of suspects when detectives picked up a
cigarette butt he dropped and matched his DNA to evidence gathered in investigation of
the crimes. Thomas has been in jail since March 2011.

EXPLOSION ROCKS INDIANAPOLIS NEIGHBORHOOD: Authorities are investigating the cause of an explosion that killed two people in Indianapolis and damaged homes within a wide radius late Saturday night. Two homes were outright demolished by the blast. Nearby
residents reported being awakened by a loud boom at 11 p.m. Saturday. As many as 80 homes in the subdivision were damaged, and more than 30 of those may have to be demolished.  Police had not confirmed the identity of the two people who died in the blast
as of last night.

HURRICANE TOLL STILL RISING: A 77-year-old man became the 43rd New York City resident to die as a result of Hurricane Sandy on Saturday. Albert McSwain fell down the stairs in his darkened apartment building in the Rockaway Beach neighborhood of Queens, which has had no electrical power since the hurricane hit two weeks ago. At least 120,000 residents of New York and New Jersey are still without power as of late Sunday. More than eight million lost power during the hurricane, and some lost power again when a nor'easter hit days later.

VETERANS HONORED: President Barack Obama paid tribute to the nation's military veterans on Sunday at a Veterans Day ceremony at Arlington Memorial Cemetery on the outskirts of Washington D.C. He laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns, saying: "Today, the proud nation expresses our gratitude, but we do so mindful that no ceremony or parade, no hug or handshake is enough to truly honor that service." The president and First Lady Michelle Obama later met with family members of casualties of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts in the cemetery's Section 60, their final resting place.

GOBBLE THIS: A classic Thanksgiving dinner will cost your family just a few more pennies this year, USA Today reports. The American Farm Bureau Federation estimates it will cost
$49.48 to feed 10 people turkey with all the trimmings. That's up 28 cents, or
three percent, from last year's average of $49.20. Most of the additional cost
is due to a rise in turkey prices. However, USA Today points out, many
stores run specials and even giveaways on turkeys this time of year, so it's
nothing to cluck over.

TWINKIE SUPPLY IN JEOPARDY! The nation's supply of Hostess Twinkies, HoHos and Ding-Dongs is in jeopardy.  Workers at Hostess Brand's factory in Northeast Philadelphia went on strike over the weekend. The action is part of a nationwide strike called by a bakers' union against the company's plants. The company has declared bankruptcy and has cut wages and
other workers' benefits at its plants. Hostess Brands also makes Wonder Bread.

Bassist Stevie Benton said about the song,
"The question I am most often asked is 'What's life on tour like?' This
song is my best description of a typical day on the road." A video is on
the way as well. Check out the new track at http://tinyurl.com/ajj9x5f

NEW PEARL JAM RECORDING ON THE WAY: Pearl Jam is launching a new series of live
"bootleg" recordings called "Instant Classic," according to Spin, starting with a recording of the band's September 30th show in Missoula, Montana. That event was part of a campaign
fundraiser for Democratic Senator Jon Tester's ultimately successful re-election campaign and included a cover of The MC5's "Kick Out the Jams" joined by members of Mudhoney.

The show is on sale through Tuesday (November 13th) in MP3 format for $4.99, with
proceeds benefiting Missoula's Poverello Center, a nonprofit dedicated to helping the homeless. After Tuesday, the show will be available for the usual price of $9.99, as an MP3, on CD or in high-quality FLAC and FLAC-HD formats.

  • A statement about the "Instant Classic" series posted on Pearl Jam's website read, "Every so often, performances like this stand out immediately as 'one for the books'
in the band's eyes. When they do, these 'Instant Classics' will continue
to be made available with this special offer."
  • Starting in 2000, Pearl Jam has made hundreds of high-quality "official bootlegs" available for purchase. The practice has continued through this year, with several recent European shows the latest to surface.
  • As for the next Pearl Jam studio effort, which the band has slowly been working on for the past year, bassist Jeff Ament recently told Guerilla
         Candy
: "We still don't really know exactly when we will finish it
so it's hard to talk about it. It really could be anything at this point.
Even though we have seven or eight songs recorded it's still sort of a
         blank slate and that's exciting."

KAT VON D BREAKS UP WITH BOYFRIEND: Reality star Kat Von D and her boyfriend, Deadmau5, have broken up. The reality star tweeted, "Man . . . Can't say I didn't
give it my best. Man, I sure was wrong. But at least he made it a no-brainer to
break that off. #lesson learned."

ASHLEY JUDD MAY RUN FOR OFFICE: Ashley Judd may be running for the U.S. Senate in 2014. The 44 year-old actress currently lives in Tennessee but she would have to re-establish her residency in Kentucky before she could challenge Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell. When asked about possibly running, Judd didn't give a direct answer but said,
"I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul."

JOHNNY DEPP HAS A NEW GIRL: Earlier this year, Johnny Depp split with his longtime
girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, and now it appears he has found a new love interest. Depp was spotted out with Amber Heard, his co-star from The Rum Diary.

cocaine, Viagra and alcohol. At the time of his death, Kovar was allegedly

TWELVE THINGS NOT TO BUY DURING THE HOLIDAYS (Yahoo)

1) Laptops. Most new laptop models are released in October or November, just in
time for holiday season. If your top goal isn't to own the latest technology,
you'll find a better deal on laptops in early fall as retailers will be
discounting older models to make room for new inventory.

2) Cameras. Find the best deals on cameras in February, when newer camera models
are introduced. By late February, older camera models sell at discounts of
30-percent or more. Presidents' Day weekend is a good time to find sales.

3) Skis. The best time to find deals on skis is in March and April, as ski season
winds down. Stores will discount models from the past winter.

4) Bicycles.  Cold weather is in fact the best time to buy a bicycle -- if you wait until
after the holiday rush. Shops will be offering steep discounts on older models,
and are more likely to throw in free extra accessories because they are looking
for business during the slow winter months.

5) Cars. Find the best deals on cars during the day on New Year's Eve. Car dealers
are in the mood to haggle and clear the inventory before year-end to make room
for new models and earn manufacturer incentives. TrueCar estimates vehicles
will average 9% below sticker price on December 31st.

6) Cruises. Book the best deal on a summertime cruise during "wave season" which runs January to March. Cruise lines will be competing for customers and offering deals as a result.

7) Luggage.  The months after the holidays are quiet periods for vacations, so stores will
lower prices on luggage. Buy your new suitcase in February or March for the best deal.

8) Jewelry. Jewelers are more willing to negotiate in April, after tax season, and in July and August when there are no gift-giving holidays.

9) Linens. Wait for January "white sales" before buying sheets, blankets, and towels. Look for discounts in department stores and from some catalog retailers ranging from 10-percent to 60-percent.

10) Tools. Wait 'til Father's Day to give Dad his new drill- prices on tools will fall by 25-percent by June.

11) Suits. Wait until January, when spring collections arrive at stores and Fall and Winter suits go on sale.

12) Broadway Tickets. Get the best ticket prices in January, February, or July.
Tickets are cheaper because fewer people are seeing shows.

SCIENTISTS SAY THERE MAY BE ANOTHER HABITABLE PLANET: Astronomers have found a planet 42-light-years away from Earth that they've dubbed "super-Earth." Its
technical name is 'HD 40307g,' and is located within the habitable zone of a sun-like host star, which means liquid water may exist on its surface.  Scientists say this means due to its climate and atmosphere it may have just the right conditions to support life. "Super-Earth" is one of three newly discovered worlds around the host star. Scientists hope future telescopes
might be able to image the planet directly. (Huffington Post)
