Ten Seminoles picked up in NFL draft, more in free agency

The 2024 NFL Draft has concluded, and ten former Florida State players received the honor of being drafted. More players were picked up as undrafted free agents. This year's draft is a statement on how far FSU's player development has grown under the leadership of head coach Mike Norvell. The first four years under Norvell's leadership produced only six draft picks during that time. To come this far and almost double that number in a single season shows tremendous growth.

DE Jared Verse led the way for the Noles, becoming the 47th 1st round pick in FSU history, selected at number 19 overall by the Los Angeles Rams. Verse won't be lonely for very long, as the Rams also used a 2nd round pick to grab DL Braden Fiske.

Elsewhere around the league, WR Keon Coleman was picked up by the Buffalo Bills also in the 2nd round. The Noles had several picks in the third round, with RB Trey Benson being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, DB Renardo Green being selected by the San Francisco 49ers, and DB Jarrian Jones being picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Noles had zero picks in the 4th round, but more Noles would find their NFL home during the 5th round. Beloved FSU QB Jordan Travis was selected by the NY Jets, where he will presumably be under the tutelage of future hall of fame QB Aaron Rodgers. One of Travis' favorite WR targets at FSU, Johnny Wilson, will fly high as a new member of the Philadelphia Eagles picked in round 6. Round 7 closed out with two final draft picks for the Noles, with TE Jaheim Bell being drafted to the New England Patriots and LB Tatum Bethune joining teammate Renardo Green as the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers.

Although the draft has officially concluded, more Noles found their way into the league, at least temporarily, as undrafted free agents. DT Fabian Lovett will join the Kansas City Chiefs, S Akeem Dent will join the Los Angeles Chargers, and LB Kalen DeLoach will join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

When you turn on your TV to watch an NFL game in the 2024-2025 season, it won't be hard to find a Nole to cheer for--no matter what game you are watching.
